Evan Lloyd

Who is

When I was 12 years old, I got run over by a drunk driver while riding my bike to the store. I was hurt pretty bad. My parents sued the driver and litigation followed. That was my first experience with the law, and what stands out the most from that experience was my deposition.

Imagine a kid sitting in this huge conference room nestled inside a big fancy law office. In the middle of the room is a solid oak conference table and the walls are lined with bookshelves filled with thick musty law books. The lawyers for both sides are dressed in expensive suits and even though everyone was being polite, you can sense they don’t care for each other. The kid is instructed where to sit, told to swear to God that he will tell the truth, and for the next couple of hours he is peppered with questions that contain big words he doesn’t yet understand. Sound like fun?

The one feeling I took away from that experience, other than utter fear, was gratitude. In that moment I was so relieved to have an attorney sitting by my side who I could trust to guide me through this strange new world. I felt protected. The case was eventually settled and forgotten, but the memory of the deposition plays through my mind every time I meet with a new client.

At Lloyd Law Group, we only take on a small number of cases each year. That’s because in order to tell your story with the respect and dignity it deserves, we have to work very closely with you, your family, and your friends. We create a window into your lives that allows a jury to see you for who you really are, so they may experience what you have experienced in rich vivid detail.

The Lloyd Law Group is a safe place where you can be vulnerable, real, and brutally honest. No fancy suits or marble floors – just some dirty black boots and an old fashioned, never give up attitude. I’ll never charge to meet with you, so come by, say hi, and let me see if I can help.

Arthur Lloyd

Who is

Arthur ("Art") is an accomplished trial lawyer with over 40 years of dedicated experience in personal injury and criminal litigation. Known for his tenacity and strategic acumen in the courtroom, Art is a trusted advocate who has consistently achieved favorable outcomes for his clients. He is a distinguished member of the American Association for Justice and holds a Diplomate designation from the National College of Trial Advocacy. Further reflecting his commitment to legal excellence, Art has completed the rigorous Advanced Studies in Trial Advocacy and is a proud graduate of the prestigious Trial Lawyer's College.

Art’s exceptional skill in litigation has not gone unnoticed; he has earned recognition from the Arizona State Bar as one of the top civil litigators, securing one of the top 10 civil jury verdicts five times in the past decade. This achievement highlights his ability to navigate complex cases with precision and persistence, ensuring his clients receive the representation they deserve. Art’s deep well of experience, complemented by post-graduate studies and continued professional development, makes him a formidable force in the courtroom and a highly respected figure in the legal community.

After growing up in the heat and congestion of the valley, Art Lloyd decided that if he ever got the opportunity, he would move to Rim Country. That opportunity came in 1977, and Art settled in Payson with his family. In 1985, he opened the doors to his law firm after graduating from law school in Arkansas (law school was less expensive in Arkansas than Arizona). Shortly after passing the bar, Judge Barry DeRose offered Art an opportunity to provide public defender work, and after winning his first three jury trials, Gila County took notice and assigned him the most difficult and serious cases. He held that position until the mid-90’s. During that time, Art represented Gila County residents in more than a hundred different trials. In the mid-90’s, Art accepted a position as Judge Pro Tem and served on the bench for 7 years, presiding primarily over criminal cases.

In 1992, a young couple came to see Art because of the poor medical care that severely injured their infant daughter. With the help of co-counsel, Art successfully tried the case and obtained what is still the largest verdict in Gila County. Emboldened by his success, Art transitioned his focus away from criminal law to medical malpractice and serious personal injury.

Realizing the complexities of medical malpractice cases, Art went back to school – so to speak. First, he completed the American College of Advocacy Training programs, receiving their highest rank of Diplomat. In addition, he completed the Gerry Spence Trial Lawyers College program. Over the years, Art has attended hundreds of classes, seminars and workshops, all focused on better advocacy for his clients. Art has been invited to lecture at the National Convention of the American Association for Justice, as well as the Arizona Association for Justice. Art is currently the Vice President of the Arizona Association for Justice (formerly Arizona Trial Lawyers Association).

In 2015, Art’s son, Evan Lloyd, joined the firm. Following in his father’s footsteps, Evan graduated from the Gerry Spence Trial Lawyers College, the Arizona Association for Justice Advanced Deposition College, the Eric Oliver Jury Persuasion program, and dozens of national and regional seminars and workshops for trial lawyers. Evan has split his practice between medical malpractice and criminal law and has successfully adjudicated numerous cases, both civil and criminal.
